L’Eveil on the World Stage Design 2013 website
World Stage Design is a programme of events exploring sustainability in creative practice of international performance design from the world of theatre, opera and dance.
World Stage Design 2013 happened in Cardiff at the beginning of the month. I have decided to volunteer during the 10 days of the festival to help set up the exhibition and assist in various jobs that need help with from front of house to supporting the various speakers in my chosen area: costume design, and working alongside some of the biggest names in the profession. I believe this is an extraordinary event which is coordinated by a volunteer organisation to raise the profile of the UK and its Theatre industry. Therefore I was a part of it. I attended the many workshops offered and research and got so much inspiration by the international exhibitors.
Met dozens of amazingly creative Theatre designers from all over the world, learned about smart materials and tutus, talked with the amazing Vin Burnham (creator of the Batman suit and the fifth element diva), listened to Robert Allsopp expertise in body suit and Yves Barre League of Gentlemen designs.
Inspired for the rest of the year. Creativity level: 200%
